The Podcamp Foundation was started back in 2007, a few months after the first Podcamp in Boston, by Chris Penn and Chris Brogan to ensure that Podcamp New Media unconferences remained community-driven events. A licensing agreement ( need to link ) was drafted in order to allow anyone who wanted to run a Podcamp in their area to understand the basic “rules” as well as get help and guidance in organizing an event for their community.

Subsequently, Whitney Hoffman joined the Podcamp Foundation as Director of Operations, and provides logistical advice and support for Podcamp organizers, as well as acting as lead organizer for Podcamp Philadelphia.
